This paper addresses the significance of translation as a fundamental human activity that facilitates communication among different cultures and societies. It highlights the vital role of translation in various fields of life, from daily interactions to economic, political, and cultural domains. The study traces the evolution of translation from a personal, individual endeavor to an institutionalized academic discipline supported by university programs and professional training. Translation is defined as the process of conveying a meaningful message from one language to another, considering both linguistic and cultural contexts. The paper underscores translation’s function in overcoming language barriers and fostering mutual understanding. Furthermore, it examines the growing demand for translation in modern times due to the increasing complexity of life and global interactions, particularly in areas such as commerce, healthcare, education, and tourism. Thus, translation has become an essential tool for information exchange and international collaboration.
