This study explores the developmental role of volunteerism in society, with a particular focus on the activities of civil society organizations in the city of Misrata. Volunteer work is presented as a fundamental human and social value that fosters cohesion and reflects the progress of modern societies. Rooted in historical, religious, and social contexts, volunteerism has become increasingly prominent, especially in times of crises and humanitarian challenges. With 156 registered civil associations in Misrata, this research examines their contributions to various development fields, the types of services they provide, and their role in compensating for institutional shortcomings in meeting community needs. The study highlights the importance of promoting a culture of volunteerism, especially within Libyan society, and emphasizes its value in mobilizing human capital for sustainable development.
