This paper explores the phenomenon of transitivity from a modern linguistic perspective, moving beyond the traditional grammatical classifications based on sufficiency and transgression. The study emphasizes the semantic dimension of transitivity by analyzing the interplay between morphological and syntactic structures. It adopts the Maghrebi linguistic framework—particularly the Moroccan tradition—to address several issues raised by contemporary linguists. The research re-evaluates classical criteria used to distinguish between transitive and intransitive verbs, proposing a new approach that bridges traditional Arabic grammar with modern linguistic theory.
