This study explores two stylistic and rhetorical features in the poetry of ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Qays al-Ruqayyāt that have been largely overlooked in previous scholarship: intertextuality and prosodic inclusion. The research aims to analyze how the poet employed these techniques to express his poetic experience and convey his aesthetic vision. The study is divided into two sections: the first examines intertextuality as a critical and rhetorical device that reflects the poet’s engagement with literary heritage, supported by applied examples from his poetry. The second investigates prosodic inclusion, where the rhyme of one verse line depends on the next, highlighting critical perspectives—both classical and modern—on this poetic technique. Ultimately, the study underscores the rhetorical richness and stylistic distinctiveness of al-Ruqayyāt’s poetry.
