Rolling Publication within a Dated Open Issue
The Journal of the Faculty of Arts – University of Misurata follows a rolling publication model within a dated open issue. This model allows for the prompt publication of accepted articles throughout a defined period while maintaining the integrity and order of the journal’s issues.
Definition:
Rolling publication means that each accepted article is published immediately upon final approval within an open issue that serves as the current issue on the journal's website. The issue remains open and is updated as new articles become ready, until the end of the publication period.
Key Features:
- A new issue is opened at the beginning of each publishing period (e.g., semiannually).
- Finalized articles are published continuously within the current issue.
- Each article receives full citation metadata, including:
- Year of publication
- Issue number
- Article sequence number within the issue
- Page numbers
- DOI (Digital Object Identifier).
- Articles remain within the same issue until it is officially closed.
- At the end of the period, the issue is finalized and marked as the official published issue.
- A new open issue is then initiated for the next cycle.
Benefits:
- Accelerates dissemination of peer-reviewed research.
- Ensures stability and consistency of citation details (issue, year, pagination, DOI).
- Fully complies with international indexing standards (e.g., Scopus, DOAJ).
- Enhances accessibility to the latest published articles.
