Roles and Responsibilities of the Editor

 

  • The editorial board comprises experts in various fields relevant to the journal’s scope and is led by the Editor-in-Chief. This board holds the final authority in all stages of the publication process.
  • The Editor-in-Chief has the ultimate authority to determine whether a submitted manuscript falls within the scope of the journal and to decide whether it should be considered for review or rejected at the submission stage.
  • As the publisher, the University of Misurata has the final say in formulating publishing policies. The entire editorial board works in accordance with the journal’s policies. The university is committed to national and international standards related to copyright and ethical practices concerning animal, human, and environmental rights, under the oversight of the University’s Ethics Committee.
  • Once a manuscript is evaluated for its relevance, originality, and novelty, the editor should assign it for peer review.
  • Editors are responsible for sending manuscripts for review and must adhere to reviewers’ recommendations regarding acceptance or rejection.
  • Editors must act with neutrality and sound judgment in assigning appropriate reviewers, maintaining the anonymity of authors to avoid bias.
  • Editors must evaluate the originality of manuscripts with transparency using globally accepted software tools to detect plagiarism, ensuring the avoidance of personal bias.
  • Editors must remain impartial in their decisions to accept or reject a manuscript.
  • Editors are required to disclose any conflicts of interest they may encounter while performing their editorial duties and must recuse themselves from decision-making in the case of personal, institutional, or financial conflicts.
  • Editors must not disclose any unpublished material from submitted manuscripts without the authors’ consent.
  • Editors should adhere to the journal’s publishing standards and coordinate with authors to ensure compliance with its editorial style and policies.
  • Editors must take necessary steps to ensure that submitted manuscripts comply with the journal’s editorial policy.
